Also known as the ‘Victory Fort’, this towering fortress can be seen from almost every corner of Leh. A 16th century fort it was established by King TashiNamgyal, the ruler of Ladakh, and it once served as the official residence to the Namgyal dynasty.
Though the fort is now on ruins, its essence and significance can still be felt clearly. Studded with ancient paintings and manuscripts, a three-storeyed stature of Maitreya Buddha serves as the main attraction of Tsemo Fort.
