1. Petrol Pumps in Ladakh:

Ladakh valley has seen a notable improvement in the availability of both petrol and diesel fuel. Unlike the past, when fuel access was limited, there are now two conveniently located petrol pumps within the town of Leh itself. Additionally, another petrol pump can be found in Karu, a town situated approximately 34km away from the Manali-Leh Highway.

Furthermore, it is worth mentioning that Diskit has an operational petrol station that remains accessible even during the winter season. This is especially beneficial for travellers exploring the Nubra Valley region, as it provides a reliable option for refuelling. Moreover, in the Tangtse village of Durbuk tehsil, a newly opened fuel station caters to the needs of those heading towards Pangong Lake. This petrol pump is conveniently located just 34km away from the lakeside, ensuring easy access to fuel for visitors, even in the winter months.

2. ATMs in Ladakh:

During your Leh Ladakh itinerary for 10 days, you will find decent number of ATMs. SBI has the highest number of ATMs in the entire Leh Ladakh region. Other major providers, such as HDFC Bank, Punjab National Bank, Axis Bank, ICICI Bank, J&K Bank, and Canara Bank, also have ATM facilities. Most of these ATM booths are located in and around Leh City.

We strongly recommend withdrawing enough cash or at least the required amount while you are in Leh City. Although other places may have ATM booths, the availability of cash or the functioning of the machines could be uncertain.

You will also find an ATM booth in Keylong, situated on the Leh-Manali Highway. However, it is essential to note that the operation of this ATM is highly unpredictable, especially during the winter season. Whenever you come across a nearby ATM, it is advisable to withdraw some cash and keep it for future use. It is recommended not to rely too much on online payment options like UPI, credit, or debit cards, as keeping hard cash will be beneficial in critical situations during your Leh Ladakh itinerary for 10 days.
