ATTRACTION OF LADAKH: ALCHICHOSKOR MONASTERY

The most unique and one of the equally pious monasteries in Ladakh, AlchiChoskor Monastery is located in the Alchi hamlet. Around 70km from the city fringes of Leh, this sacred monastery dates back to around 1,000 years, and was built by Guru RinchenZangpo.

Built according to local architecture and traditions, AlchiChoskor Monastery depicts ancient paintings that showcases the spiritual essence of both Buddhist and Hindu kings of ancient India. Wooden carvings, massive statues, detailed inscriptions, and its three main shrines – Dukhang, Sumtseg and Manjushri Temple are the main attractions of this monastery.
