Gulmarg’s Snowy Christmas Attracts 10,000 Tourists

The famous ski resort of Gulmarg welcomed around 10,000 tourists on Christmas Eve. The atmosphere was majestic filled with joyous celebrations. The snowy landscape added beauty to the Gulmarg’s splendid scenic environment. Javeed Ahmed, The Assistant Director of Tourism, expressed optimism about the increasing number of tourists in winter from across the world.

Gulmarg saw a strong start to the season with 4,912 visitors on Sunday and 4,828 on Monday. Gulmarg is gearing up for a successful tourist season with 16,000 tourists so far. The daily count of 5,000 tourists is expected to grow further, promising to be a lively New Year.

Despite the rise in demand, the hotels and guesthouses efficiently accommodated the rising number of tourists. It shows the Gulmarg’s capacity to host a large number of people. Director of Tourism, Raja Yaqoob, highlighted the ongoing preparation for the New Year and the joy Gulmarg holds in hosting foreign tourists. He said, similar to Gulmarg, Pahalgam and Sonamarg are also experiencing an increase in tourist arrivals.

Saint Mary’s Church hosted the Christmas festival led by Father Eric and Father Venoo. The members of the community gathered for the prayers and cake cutting ceremony. These celebrations added to the festive spirits of Gulmarg. This positive news increased the number of tourists during the Christmas celebration and made a happy moment for everyone who attended it.
